There Was A Time

There Was A Time

There was a time I starved for your affection, thirsted for some attention.  Sorry, I could not help myself. Apologies if I seemed needy.  My heart was made for love, and that’s the end of it.  So, why am I no longer striving for your approval or begging for your time?  Why does a moment without you no longer feel like I’m dwindling?  Strangely, I can function without you.  Another false prophet, you were in my life, as you predicted, I would lose my mind without you.

If it seems this piece is about you, I assure you it is not.  It is simply that hindsight is 20/20, as they say.  I absorbed the pain, but never analyzed it.  Not until I found real love and tasted a fruit called truth.  It was not until I met my heavenly Father, my Beloved, my Redeemer, and good Shepherd that I understood all I missed.  If there is one regret, it is the years without Him, which seem like a lifetime.    I could have been further along, enjoyed better moments, and even accomplished more.

But who knows, He is the restorer of years gobbled up, the repairer of broken lives, the giver of purpose, so as of today, I know I’m in the express lane to greater exploits.  I may be a slow learner, but He would freeze time it He must, just for me to catch up with the greats, His mighty ones.  I know life taught me a lesson or two, but His instructions leave me amazed.  Indeed, a web of knowledge He uploaded in my mind, reshaping and transforming it into one both strong and meek, wise and sober.  All I can say now is I will forget the former things.  If I must recall one thing about what was done to me, either in ignorance or malice, it is only that all ultimately brought me here, to the place of rest, to the love I was dying for.

Let it be so!
